This morning's OB exam has brought some news of both!
My cervix is 50% effaced and 1 cm dilated, baby still in position and engaged. Nothing to write home about, but at least something is happening. Hooray for progress and for the hope to be meeting our baby soon.
In non-baby world, it must be mentioned herein that history has been made and I feel privileged to be a part of this great achievement in history. U & I have been pretty engaged in this year's Presidential campaign and yesterday was election day for the 44th President of the US. Although the country has been defined by the fear ridden, backwards, fundamentalist dogma of the sitting administration, its clear now that a desire for progress and hope prevail, and we have together done the impossible - elected a great man and a fellow brother of color to the highest office of the land - a first for America and for the Western world. Truly inspiring stuff. We can now tell our little one that although he's of mixed race and therefore a minority, he can truly be whatever he wants to be. That its possible to be accepted and achieve great things with an unusual face, name and upbringing. That multiculturalism and change in the name of peace and progress can be embraced in this country.
I am proud to be an American today, and to have believed in and elected Barack Hussein Obama the next President of the USA!

yes - it was a great decison yesterday and we are involved. In respect to your home in the USA and our little US citizen BBi we combine all our hopes for a change in democracy and peace and we do fully agree with the new route and your optimism in the same direction.
